About

my Story

Hi there! I'm Jessie Hamilton-Burns, and I've had quite the journey into the world of UX design. It all started back in 2020 when I made a significant career shift from being a development administrator to diving headfirst into UX. My first big break was at rppl, a healthcare startup, where I was tasked with architecting their website. Around the same time, I was diagnosed with Alpha-gal, which really opened my eyes to the unique challenges faced by those with this condition. [Note: you can read more about Alpha-gal project here]

Creating an app to support people like me became my passion project. It wasn't just about designing interfaces; it was about telling stories and connecting with others who shared similar experiences. This project remains incredibly close to my heart, as it exemplifies how design can make a tangible difference in people's lives.

Nowadays, I'm thriving at Expedia Group, where my addiction to learning new technologies serves me well. I've found myself leading design sprints and taking a more holistic approach to my work. It's not just about making things look good; it's about understanding the broader impact of my designs on Vrbo hosts and Expedia hotel partners.

Outside of work, I'm all about staying active. Muay Thai, tennis, and skiing keep me on my toes and energized. Of course, like any good travel enthusiast, I also adore exploring different cultures and soaking up new experiences wherever I go.
